Russian foreign policy unaltered: Russian MFA
Russia's foreign policy is not being reconsidered, REGNUM correspondent cites Russian Foreign Ministry's official representative Andrey Nesterenko to state at a briefing in Moscow Sep 1, 2008 while commenting on the five principles of Russia's foreign policy articulated by President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev on Aug 31, 2008.
''Events of August 8 became the climax of the policy of anti-Russian provocations systematically performed by certain western circles,'' Nesterenko stated. According to the diplomat, the events created a qualitatively new situation, and there is no return to the previous status quo. ''The situation, undoubtedly, demands regrouping of our approaches and positions. However, no change of the foreign policy course is being discussed. Five principles articulated by Medvedev are a concentrated manifestation of Russia's foreign policy concept,'' Nesterenko said.
According to the official, ''decisive action during the conflict in South Ossetia leaves no room for equivocal interpretation of Russia's external policy line at the moment.''
