Russia, Georgia exchange POWs
All prisoners of war captured by the Georgian and Russian sides during the operation of forcing Georgia to peace have been returned to their countries' representatives, REGNUM reports Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Sergey Fridinsky to say Sep 3 in a TV broadcast from Tskhinval. Fridinsky said that as for today, neither side had information about any more of their military captured.
At the same time, Fridinsky informed, there are still missing people whose fate is unknown today. Many bodies found in the bombed Tskhinval are hard to identify in some cases, it is a mass of corpses consisting of small fragments of bodies.
Prosecutor General confirmed commitment of the Russian side to solve problems of POWs in accordance with international norms.
He also confirmed information, according to which documents of foreign citizens had been found among the bodies of Georgian military. No owners of these IDs, however, have been found so far. At the moment, criminal investigators are examining information on participation of the third countries' citizens in combat against South Ossetia.
