Ukraine continues arming Georgia
Right after negotiations of David Kezerashvili, the minister of defense of Georgia with Vyacheslav Kirilenko, the leader of the pro-president Our Ukraine parliamentary fraction, being on visit in Tbilisi, it was made public that Georgia and Ukraine will continue collaboration in defense sphere, Izvestiya newspaper informs today.
According to UN data, it was Ukraine that became the key supplier of military equipment and arms to Georgia. Most of all the Ukrainian gunsmiths earned by selling renewed tanks of the Soviet type, T-72. Last year, the Georgian military got 74 of such armored vehicles, reequipped under the standards of NATO. The price of each such tank on the average totaled $1 million. In addition, in 2007, Ukraine supplied five artillery systems to Georgia, 495 missile and launchers, and also almost 20,000 units of fire arms.
As REGNUM reported earlier, the Ukrainian delegation arrived to Georgia on September, 9.
