Kolerov: US defense secretary’s service to Russia is everlasting
US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has destroyed by one word the long-term efforts of western propaganda to assure (and particularly to deceive) Russia that extension of NATO up to its borders does not threat its military security," said Modest Kolerov, REGNUM managing director commented on a statement made by the US secretary of defense that first of all NATO is a military alliance not a talk shop (cited by SkyNews).
Kolerov underlined: For all these years, when the military infrastructure of NATO was eating up territories of the former Warsaw Treaty at first, and then swallowed up the Baltic states and was clearly planning to absorb Georgia and Ukraine, the western teachers and their Western-European, especially Ukrainian, students used to tell Russia: Why are you so concerned about approaching of NATO to Russia’s border? NATO is no longer what it was, long time ago, the military element in it gave up even not to military-political, but cleanly to political and humanitarian tasks of promoting democracy, civil society and spirituality! They used to say that Russia rather than protest, should be simply happy about such center of human rights and progress what, according to them, became the present-day NATO approaching to its borders… Now they will have to swallow this slap in the face. The most important thing is that all their long-term conscious lie was disproved exactly by the master of the bloc, its controlling stockholder – the USA.
It is mere words that everyone is equal in NATO, and decisions are made by a consensus, the price of their consensus is so insignificant, like the price of their assurances that NATO is not a military bloc. Now, nobody will deny the obvious fact that NATO during the whole history of its expansion against Russia has been posing military tasks. And Russia should even thank the US secretary of defense for this long-awaited truth; his service to Russia’s foreign policy and society is truly everlasting.
