In the near future, Somalia intends to establish diplomatic relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, declared Mohammed Mahmud Handule, the ambassador of the Republic of Somalia in Russia today, on October, 1, while speaking at a press-conference in Moscow, informs a REGNUM correspondent.
According to the ambassador, Somalia wants to cooperate with Russia. We approve the position of Russia and its role in global problems. We also fully approve its position during the conflict in the Caucasus. Peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have a right of self-determination, and we prepare to establish diplomatic relations with Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Georgia in the short run. We do not have yet diplomatic relations with Georgia, declared Handule. Touching upon the question when it could be done, the ambassador said that it was a question of diplomatic procedure. We have shortage of personnel, but we are preparing for it, noted the head of diplomatic mission of Somalia in Russia.
