Russian peacekeepers deny reports on drone falling down in Georgia
A spokesman for the Headquarters of the Russian Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone denies reports on a Russian drone falling down in the Georgian territory. According to Lieutenant Colonel Vitaly Manushko, a report of the Georgian Interior Ministry on a Russian drone falling down in the Georgian territory is not correct.
As REGNUM reported earlier, teh Georgian Interior Ministry informed that on September 30, at about 05:00 p.m., a Russian drone fell down near the village of Odzisi (eastern Georgia).
As a spokesman for the Georgian Interior Ministry, Shota Utiashvili, said at a briefing today, the aircraft fell down without any impact from the Georgian air defense, most probably because of a technical breakdown. According to the spokesman, experts now continue examining debris of the drone. They have already established, he says, that it is a modernized hand-assembled rather than a standard model.
The drone was equipped with a photo camera, its data has been already deciphered: these are pictures of Georgian police checkpoints near Odzisis, said Utiashvili noting that Odzisis is the last village before Akhalgori District, where Russian troops are deployed now.
