Merkel: Ukraine and Georgia will not receive NATO Membership Action Plan
Most probably Georgia and Ukraine will not receive NATO Membership Action Plan MAP this December. Federal German Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a joint press conference with President of Russian federation Dmitry Medvedev in Saint Petersburg that the official Berlin saw that the time was not right for it.
Merkel stressed that the position of Germany did not change, announced at the last NATO summit in Bucharest (at that time Georgia and Ukraine was refused to join the MAP -REGNUM). According to the chancellor, the progress of the Georgian and Ukrainian Partnership for Peace program will be analyzed and on this base a conclusion concerning the further movement to the way of membership was made.
