NATO welcomes decision of Armenia to mend relations with Turkey
Armenian President Serge Sargsyan met NATO Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons on October 20. As REGNUM was informed at the presidential press office, during the meeting Serge Sargsyan stated one of priority ways of Armenia's foreign policy was the European direction and cooperation with NATO was the most important element.
According to the president, the cooperation with NATO would continue, moreover, it is considered to be a part of the Armenian security. In turn, Robert Simmons described the level of cooperation of NATO and Armenia as prosperous, noting there were all conditions for its development at hand. The Armenian president briefed the NATO representative on Armenia's position on the current situation in the South Caucasusian region, on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, including the latest developments in the Armenian-Turkish relations. Robert Simmons pointed it out that NATO promoted the initiative and decision of Armenia to mend the relations with Turkey.
