Russia sees positive shift in settlement of Karabakh conflict
Russia sees positive shift in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, Russian President Dmitry Medevedev said at a joint press conference with Armenian President Serge Sargsyan in Yerevan on October 21. As a REGNUM correspondent reports, according to Medvedev, Russia would assist in the search of mutually acceptable solutions of this issue.
Medevedev noted that the August events showed that any challenge should be faced on the basis of talks, pointing out that the events in South Ossetia were the example. We are ready to search for a decision. I will not comment on nuances of the talks, but we hope that a meeting of the three presidents will be held soon and I hope it will be done in Russia, Medvedev noted.
In turn, the Armenian president noted the Armenian side assesses positively the role of Russia in the OSCE Minsk Group. Armenia is ready for continuation of the talks on the basis of the Madrid principles, he noted stressing they are not a secret and they can easily be found in the internet. They are the grounds that allow recognizing the right of a nation for self-determination and some other fundamental points. We believe the challenges are possible to be solved on the basis of compromises and negotiations, Sargsyan noted.
