Saakashvili is ready to bear testimony to parliamentary commission to study the August events
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili was ready to bear testimony to a parliamentary commission to investigate the August events, Chairman of the commission Paata Davitaia said today. According to him, Mikhail Saakashvili expressed readiness to testify at a meeting with members of the anti-crisis council.
The president is not obliged plead to the Commission, but he showed civic thinking, Davitaia marked. Chairman of the Parliament David Bakradze welcomed the president's decision. He was not obliged to bear testimony, but he showed the initiative. It was an unprecedented case in history of the Georgian parliamentary system, he noted. The exact time of the president's appearance at the Commission has not been discussed yet. The Commission examined a number of senior officials in order to find out causes of launching the Georgian-Russian war and the preparation of various state organizations to the war.
