Civil committees are being formed in Georgia to dismiss Saakashvili
Civil committees and initiative groups are being formed in Georgia to force President Mikhail Saakashvili to resign, said Kakhaber Shartava, the head of National Forum at a briefing on February 18. Gubaz Sanikidze was appointed the coordinator of the organizations.
According to Sanikidze, the committees will work to raise awareness among citizens to dismiss the president Saakashvili. “The committees aim to involve the society in the opposition movement. We will organize a civil sector to establish politically informed society, which will be prepared to dismiss Saakashvili and participate in nation-wide protest actions”,- said he. Several such committees have been already established in Tbilisi. Sanikidze said consultations with other opposition parties regarding the issue are underway.
