Plane crash in Baku may be caused by terror act
According to the most recent information, AH-140 passenger plane of Azerbaijani Airlines, flight Baku-Aktau (Kazakhstan) that crashed near Baku on December 23, practically fell apart in the air, so the investigation says about a possible act of terrorism. As a REGNUM correspondent has been informed by sources in law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan, the remains of the plane fell on the coastline and in the Caspian Sea.
By preliminary reports, all 18 passengers of crashed AH-140 were students born in 1985. None of the passengers survived.
Representatives of all Azerbaijani law machinery agencies went to the plane crash site, including Chairman of Emergency Situation commission and Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov.
The search of plane remains was hampered by night, bad weather conditions (wind and rain – REGNUM), and that plane was nearly torn up in the air.
The plane departed from Baku airport at 22:29 and crashed in 7 minutes. It carried 18 passengers and 5 crew members. The plane crashed near the coastline of the Caspian Sea, near the village of Kurduakhany (Apsheron region), 20 km from Baku.
