Azerbaijan is ready for transit of Kazakh oil
Construction of the second 30-inch pipeline connecting oil terminals of Azertrans Ltd. and British Petroleum-Azerbaijan in Sangachal (42 kilometers south from Baku) has been completed, press office of Azertrans Ltd. reports.
According to the statement made by the press office, the construction of the pipeline 11,577 meters long was started on July 23 2005 and was carried out by Kaspmorneftegazstroy, trust of the Azerbaijani State Oil Company, informs Turan news agency.
Putting the pipeline into operation can be treated as Azerbaijan’s readiness for transit of Kazakh oil to world markets through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which starts from the Sangachal terminal at the Caspian seashore.
Azertrans Ltd., Azerbajnai leading company carries out transportation of Kazakh and Turkmen oil through Azerbaijan, owns two oil terminals and oil tank-wagons. Since June 2005 the company has been transporting oil of The Azerbaijani International Operating Company (British Petroleum’s operator) extracted at the Azeri oil field by railway to the Black-Sea port of Batumi.
