Gas from Russia supplied to Georgia via Azerbaijan, Armenia uses its resources
Russian gas has started arriving in Georgia by transit via Azerbaijan. To restore the supplies, Gazprom has increased gas supplies in the region by 3 million cubic meters daily.
Meanwhile, the Georgian authorities call the accident at the pipeline a provocation and a diversion, putting the blame for it on Russia. The Russian foreign ministry condemned the statements. Specialists from Gazprom, Russian emergency ministry and other agencies are now working on improving the situation on the gas pipeline. Taking into consideration such effort, such statements are nothing more than hysteria and disorder aimed at intensifying the anti-Russian campaign, says a statement made by the Russian foreign ministry.
After explosions on the gas pipeline in North Ossetia, Armenia turned out to be cut off from the Russian gas. However, increase of gas imports to Azerbaijan cannot release tensions in the Armenian energy system. ArmRosGazprom leadership has appealed to the Armenian customers asking to save gas. At present moment, gas is supplied from Abovyan underground reservoirs.
