Iran proposes to arrange gas supplies to Georgia until the problem is settled with Russian gas supplies cut-off by the blasts on main gas pipelines in Russia. As a REGNUM correspondent reports, the Georgian foreign ministry released a statement about it noting that in the evening of January 24, on the initiative by Iranian Foreign Minister Manucher Mottaki a telephone talk with Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili took place, during which the Iranian foreign minister expressed his concern with the situation on gas supplies in Georgia and offered assistance in solving the problem by supplying Iranian gas to Georgia. The Georgian foreign ministry also says that at present moment Georgian power engineers together with their Iranian colleagues are working out technical aspects of supplying Iranian gas to Georgia.
