RAO UES of Russia increased power supplies to Georgia in three times
RAO UES of Russia has increased the current power supplies to the Georgian energy system by a factor of three after Georgia suffered from the explosions at Kavkasioni power lines and Russia-Georgia main gas pipeline and the bad weather that broke the Imereti high voltage line connecting Inguri Hydroelectric Power Station with eastern and central areas of the country. At present moment, all the customers in Tbilisi are cut off from the electricity except for socially important facilities. The power shortage in the Georgian capital has reached 350 Megawatt, says a report released by the official RAO UES of Russia Web-site.
In this situation, by the effort of RAO UES of Russia power supplies to Georgia from the Russian territory have been increased up to the maximal possible level. Total current power supplies from Russia to Georgia exceed the previous amount (before the diversion at the Kavkasioni power line) by 70 Megawatt and reached the physical capability of the resent power lines. Besides, under RAO UES assistance two its branches INTER RAO UES and Telasi Joint-Stock Company have agreed with the Azerenergy Company to resume power supplies from Azerbaijan. Maximal capacity of the power supplies can reach 100 Megawatt. Within a day the ninth block of Tbilisi Hydroelectric Power Station belonging to Russia will be launched that will give another 250 Megawatt to Georgia. Restoration activities have been speeded up at the sites of the explosions. Taking into account the work already done, nine more days are needed for complete.
