44% Russians sure: Russian team will achieve success in Torino
44% of Russians are sure that the Russian Olympic team will compete at winter games in Torino better, then at former winter Olympiads. 29% believe Russian sportsmen’s achievements will be as good, as the last time.
Just likefour years ago, figure skating, ice hockey, skiing and biathlon are winter sport arts, which stimulate the greatest interest. Both female and male sport arts can be distinguished among them. Figure skating is a female one: 73% of women and only 34% of men give preference to it. Ice hockey (60%), skiing (41%), biathlon (41%) are male sport arts, 17%, 24%, and 17% of women correspondingly take an interest in them.
23% of Russians are going to watch permanently games TV translations, 46% from time to time only some competitions. 15% of the respondents are not interested in the Olympic Games at all.
On January 20-24, Yuri Levada’s Analytic Centre conducted a representational poll of 1,600 Russians aged 18 and upward in 128 settlements of 46 country’s regions. Answers are arranged in % with results of similar polls, conducted 2002, before the winter Olympic Games in Salt-Lake-City, and 1998, before Olympiad in Nagano. Statistical error does not exceed 3%.
