Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan: our countries are capable to guard BTÑ pipeline at their own expense
APA news agency is quoting Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Turan Morali as saying: Turkey and Azerbaijan are capable to guard Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline at their own expense.
According to the ambassador, at present, formation of military units for guarding of oil pipeline is not being discussed at intergovernmental level, because there is no need in it. The formation, coordination of activities and deployment of joint forces are a complicated process, demanding much time. We can help the country which can not secure oil pipeline’s section, passing through its territory. According to Mr. Morali, the Georgian government requested oil companies to render assistance in oil pipeline’s guarding. As for the fact, that Turkish section of the pipeline may be attacked by Kurdish armed groups, the ambassador mentioned, that there are no problems in this way.
