Turnover between Russia and China totaled $29 billion in 2005

At present, Russian-Chinese relations are characterized by stable development dynamic, solid legal base, and branchy organizational structure of bilateral cooperation, active ties at all levels. There are intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements practically in all spheres of cooperation, stated presidential plenipotentiary representative in the Far-Eastern Federal District Kamil Iskhakov during his meeting with journalists. As press office of the representatives informed on March 16, the meeting is caused by Vladimir Putin’s visit to China on March 21-22.

“Three years ago, Russia and China set themselves as an object to increase goods turnover up to $20 billion. In 2005, turnover between our countries achieved $29 billion. $60 billion are planned for 2010,” said the representative.

In Chinese territory about 100 events, organized by authorities of Russian Far-Eastern regions, will take place in 2006. There will be concerts of artistic groups, investment conferences, economic forums, exhibitions, fairs, and sport competitions.

One of most important events, to take place within Year of Russia in China Project, is participation of Russian Far-Eastern regions in 17th Harbin International Trade and Economic Fair in form of united exposition. The fair’s opening ceremony will take place on June 14 this year. It is already known, that day of June 15 is marked as Russian Trade Day, and enterprises of both Far-Eastern regions and others countries’ ones will represent their production. On June 16, Russian-Chinese forum on investment cooperation will take place.

“Every Far-Eastern region prepares it own ‘surprise’ within Year of Russia in China.” For example, opening of Urasa Yakut National House is planned in Harbin. In Vladivostok creation of common site in Russian and Chinese, aimed at rendering informational and trade services, is planned,’ stressed Iskhakov. ‘Representatives of Amur region are going to represent project of mutual Russian-Chinese free economic zone. Non-stop air communication with Chinese cities of Dalyan and Beijing will be established on Sakhalin Island. Komsomolsk-on-Amur aviation industrial enterprise is going to translate into Chinese and to publish Basics of Aircraft Production Technology manuscript.

It should be reminded, that 2006 is proclaimed Year of Russia in China, and 2007 – Year of China in Russia. China is now and stays in perspective one of most rapidly developing markets. “Undoubtedly, we will further develop political and economical dialogue with China. Border and interregional cooperation is here a significant reserve to expand trade-economical, cultural, and humanitarian ties,” concluded Iskhakov at the press conference.
