Georgians arrested in Byelorussia deported to Ukraine
Three Georgians arrested on March 21 by Byelorussian State Security Committee have been released. According to information of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, they were arrested because of participation in the meeting in Minsk. They held Georgian and Ukrainian banners and had Georgian passports.
The Byelorussian authorities decided to deport them to Ukraine. From there they will return to Georgia. As REGNUM already informed, they all were announced non-grata persons and banned from entering the Byelorussian territory for another five years. The detained were Head of Religious Council of Georgian Ombudsman Vladimir Gogiashvili, Archpriest of the Georgian Orthodox Church Basil Kobakhidze, and Head of the Georgian Baptists Malkhaz Songhulashvili.
The Byelorussian opposition continues peaceful protest against results of the Byelorussian presidential elections.
