Byelorussian opposition does not refuse to hold one more meeting
Byelorussian opposition is not going to cancel its meeting in Oktyabrskaya Square planned for Saturday, stated presidential ex-contender Alexander Milinkevich. We planned to conduct such action; it does not have political character and it is timed to anniversary of foundation of the Byelorussian People’s Republic, he is quoted as saying by RSN.
The opposition demands to declare results of 19 March presidential elections to be illegal and to set new voting. Earlier, Alexander Lukashenko stated he would not allow development of events in the republic under color scenarios in Georgia and Ukraine.
On March 24, it was reported about disrupting of meeting in Minsk downtown. All detained persons – about 300 people – were brought to detention center. According to representatives of the Interior Ministry, future of the detained persons will be defined in accordance with the law.
