Baku-Ceyhan Project demands new unplanned spendings
As Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Batik Aliyev informed the press on March 30, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will be commissioned on May 27, 2006. Official opening ceremony will take place at the fall of June, informed a REGNUM correspondent. According to the schedule, this event should take place in March.
The minister told that approximately $1.4 billion of project costs is Turkish share. BOTAS Company already spent it, and now demands additional $400 mln. Claims of the company are linked with delays, changes in the project, purchase of equipment and its transportation. But specific answer regarding the claims has not been given yet, said the minister.
According to Aliyev, because price for oil barrel increased from $20 to $60, expenses increased from $200 mln to $mln. Specific information will be announced after finishing all the works.
