Residents of Feodosia throw bottles at NATO trucks (Ukraine)
Opponents of Ukraine’s joining NATO have continued to block the port of Feodosia, although the US Advantage vessel under NATO flag already left the port after it unloaded armaments and military equipment. As a REGNUM correspondent reports, in the night of May 30 all possible ways out of the port remained blocked by Crimeans, participants of the Anti-NATO action to prevent from moving the load to the Old Crimean Military Ground, which is in a 25 km distance from Feodosia.
On the fourth day of the action numerous Crimean Cossacks, members of the Orthodox Citizens of Ukraine Union, The Holy Russia NGO, Sevastopol Proryv! Touth Organization were joined by proponents of the Ukrainian Regions Party the Communist Party and a number of other NGOs. Over 300 people stayed through the whole night near the port. Residents of Feodosia were bringing food, hot tea and coffee for participants of the action.
It became known there that other vessels with heavy armaments are to touch at the port. The demonstrators were scanning No to NATO! and Yankee, go home!. Proryv! activists blocked all the exits from the port and inspected all the cars vehicles leaving the port. Local youth enrolled in the organization, put on frontlets with the organization’s mane and stood to the cordons.
The organized night action was disturbed by several Feodosian residents, who came to the port’s fence and started throwing bottles towards the NATO convoy, but the police summoned extra forces immediately.
As REGNUM earlier reported, on May 29, Ukraine’s Acting Defense Minister Anatoly Gritsenko announced that the Americans unloaded only construction blocks in the port. The Ukrainian Ombudswoman Nina Karpacheva urged the Prosecutor General’s Office to call to account persons, who allowed a US military vessel unloading armaments in the port of Feodosia passing over the Supreme Rada. Leader of the Ukrainian Communists Pyotr Simonenko called for the full dismissal of the defense minister, the foreign minister and the president. Members of the Feodosia City Council on May 29 unanimously supported draft of Natalya Vitrenko’s Bloc People Opposition and made a decision that assigned the status of a territory without NATO to Feodosia.
