Russian Prosecutor-General resigned
Vladimir Ustinov is not Prosecutor-General of Russia any more. On July 2, majority of the Federation Council voted for his resignation. It is still unclear, who initiated Ustinov’s resignation. It is reported that a relevant statement was handed over to senators by Vladimir Putin. There are rumors at the FC that Ustinov himself asked the president to dismiss him. He addressed to the FC black and white to take decision on his resignation durante absentia.
Prosecutor-General’s Office Department on Information and Public Relations released an official statement in connection with Russian Prosecutor-General Vladimir Ustinov’s resignation on his own wish. It is said there that all public prosecutor officials continue to work in an approptiate mode, obeying to the Russian legislation, securing rights and interests of citizens, struggle against corruption and criminality will be undeviatingly conducted further.
In accordance with federal Law On the Russian Public Prosecutor’s Office, First Deputy Prosecutor-General Vladimir Biryukov assumed the duties of Russian Prosecutor-General.
