Dmitry Kozak arrived in Moscow, however, denies connection with Prosecutor-General’s dismissal
In the evening of May 2, Russian Presidential Envoy in the Southern Federal District Dmitry Kozak arrived in Moscow. As Ekho Moskvy reports, the envoy’s office assures that the visit was planned before and is in no way connected with rumors about his possible appointment to the position of Prosecutor-General.
As REGNUM earlier reported, in the morning of May 2, Russian Prosecutor-General Vladimir Ustinov was dismissed. At a session of the Federation Council, 140 senators voted for his dismissal and two abstained.
As sources in the government inform, Dmitry Kozak can become new Prosecutor-General. Presidential Envoy in Privolzhye Federal District Alexander Konovalov, who had been Prosecutor of Bashkortostan before, is said to be potential deputy prosecutor-general.
