Russian Liberal Democratic Party to publish a book in English for NATO servicemen

Read it in Russian

Nizhny Novgorod Regional organization of the Russian Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) is going to publish a book about the party and Russia in English especially for NATO soldiers, who will arrive in Nizhny Novgorod Region in September this year for having joint military exercises, Member of the Russian State Duma Alexander Kurdyumov has told to a REGNUM correspondent.

“Unlike Communists, we do not plan to establish barrages in front of NATO,” he is quoted as saying while commenting on reports about a protest action planned by Nizhny Novgorod Communists against arrival of US troops to the region’s territory.

“We say: let them come. Especially for US servicemen we are publishing a book in English, we shall popularize the Russian Army and the LDPR, inform NATO troops about Russia. They should understand that Russia is not an enemy, and on the whole is a wonderful, nice country, which has never wanted to be an enemy.”

The party is going to publish a book for Russian troops where it would tell them about the party and Russia’s position. Kurdyumov believes that the protest action designed to be held by the Communists is a PR-action and an attempt to “wrap Russia in cotton wool, behind the iron curtain.”

However, the MP is sure the protest action by the Communists will not gain support by the public in Nizhny Novgorod.

As REGNUM reported earlier, first announcement of possible military exercises together with NATO troops in Nizhny Novgorod in Milino Garrison was announced by leader of the regional communists’ organization Nikolai Ryabov. He said the regional committee of the party was preparing a protest action, the first rally to be held on July 16.

The Russian Defense Ministry did not rule out a possibility of carrying out joint military exercises in Mulino, noting that the action plan of the exercises was underway.

According to the Communists, NATO troops are expected to arrive on September 21, and the exercises are to start at Mulino on September 28. Tank crews, infantry, supply companies and staff are expected to come to the region. Besides, the contingent is to bring 12 tanks, 12 armored carriers and ammunition with them.
