Turkish expert expects pressure from countries that suffered from BTC pipeline
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will give strong impetus to Turkish economy, well-known expert in international power engineering Necdet Pamir believes. According to him, the project is expected to be operated within forty years; main impetus will be given to Turkey’s development after first 16-year-long stage is over. The second 24-year-long stage will be the most profitable one. Kazakhstan’s joining the project, which will make it possible to increase Turkey’s part of the project’s oil, will play considerable role in it. Also, oil transit by tankers, dangerous for Istanbul ecology, will reduce by 25%, the Turkish expert said.
Along with the project’s positive aspects, Necdet Pamir also mentioned the BTC pipeline’s potential threats for the country. In particular, he stressed strengthening attention of world globalization’s centers toward Turkey, as well as their possible wish to interfere into regional events. On the other hand, as the expert pointed out, pressure from the direction of other countries, which interests have suffered from the project’s realization, should be expected, the Trend News Agency informs.
