Andrei Kokoshin: Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan in energy sphere strengthens CIS
Main subject of the G8 has been the problem of providing for international energy security. Participation of Nursultan Nazarbayev in the G8 summit was a key aspect of success, as Kazakhstan has been playing more and more important role in world hydrocarbons producing, Chair of the Russian State Duma Committee on the CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Andrei Kokoshin has said to a REGNUM correspondent commenting on signing by the presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan at the G8 summit in St. Petersburg on July 17 of a joint declaration on development of long-term cooperation in processing and selling gas from Karachaganak gas field.
Kokoshin noted that cooperation in the gas field has become more and more intensive between Russia and Kazakhstan, which cannot but influence the whole stability within CIS and EurAsEC frameworks. Signing the declaration, according to him, contributes significantly to cooperation of the two countries and is an important example of how relations in the CIS territory can develop.
