Putin: There is conservative optimism concerning North Korea
The Chinese party at the talks with North Korea feels conservative optimism and hopes that the problem can be settled peacefully. As a REGNUM correspondent reports, the Russian president has made the statement at a news conference on results of the G8 summit in St. Petersburg on July 17, citing his conversation with Hu Jintao. According to Vladimir Putin, status of a nuclear-free zone will be assigned to the Korean Peninsula. It is necessary to start the talks as soon as possible, Putin said.
