Moldovan newspaper: Yanukovich’s cabinet will change nothing in regime of goods transit through Moldovan-Ukrainian border
The new Cabinet of Ministers will change nothing in goods transit through the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, Moldovan governmental Moldova Suverana newspaper says on August 8, commenting on appointment of Viktor Yanukovich as Ukraine’s Prime Minister and possible consequences of the step for Chisinau.
The regime in Tiraspol is too insignificant for the Yanukovich government, who has billions interests in the West, the newspaper writes. During its election campaign the Regions Party criticized the new customs regime, which allegedly brought about Transdnestr economic blockade. After an announcement on establishing the anti-crisis coalition, one of the Regions Party leaders declared that the Yanukovich government would abandon the current customs regime on the border with Moldova. Late June, Transdnestr mass media reported that Yanukovich would visit Transdnestr on August 1. But he did not. It is the first signal that the Yanukovich cabinet will change nothing in the goods transit regime through the Moldovan-Transdnestr border, Moldova Suverana runs.
