Yushchenko confirms Euro-integration aspirations of Ukraine to EU Council Secretary-General
Today, on August 8, a phone talk of Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and Secretary-General of the EU Council Javier Solana was held, during which they discussed successful settlement of the parliamentary crisis in Ukraine and signing the National Unity Universal. Javier Solana assured the Ukrainian president that such civilized political mechanism of settling the crisis is highly assessed in Europe, a REGNUM correspondent is told in press office of the Ukrainian president.
Javier Solana congratulated the Ukrainian president on the end of the political crisis and establishment of the Cabinet of Ministers after forming a coalition in the Supreme Rada and fair and transparent elections on March 26. The parties also discussed aspects of Ukraine’s European integration. In this context, Viktor Yushchenko once again confirmed European integration aspirations of Ukraine and noted that this direction was registered as one of the main guidelines in the Universal. The new Supreme Rada and the government will work upon implementing this strategic target for Ukraine, the Ukrainian president stressed.
