Moldova wants both to preserve Russian gas price and not to lose control over gas transportation system
Moldova has offered Gazprom to sign a long-term contract on Russian gas supplies to the country, the Moldavian government said on August 8. A REGNUM correspondent reports that a Moldavian delegation led by First Vice Premier Zinaida Grechanaya is ready to go to Moscow for relevant talks.
Earlier Grechanaya said that Moldova was planning to conclude such a contract by October 1. We hope to fix the price in the contract for several years, she said. She also hopes that the contract will not lose Moldova its assets in the Moldova-Gaz joint venture.
Earlier, the Moldavian government and Gazprom agreed that in the second half of 2006 Moldova will get Russian gas at $160/1,000 c.m. In the first half of 2006, Moldova got it at $110/1,000 c.m..
