Ukraine’s fuel and energy minister: We cannot buy gas from Gazprom at $230 price
On August 26, at a news conference after a session of Ukraine’s Fuel and Energy Ministry in Yalta, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Boyko said answering a question by a REGNUM correspondent about need for a mediator in the gas relations with Russia and cooperation with his Russian counterpart, that Ukraine’s gas reserves are filled from several sources and Russia is one of them.
To harmonize and balance prices, which differ in Russia and Central Asian countries (and we receive gas from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan) an operator is needed that makes a mix of the gas and supplies it to our country at a price of $95. Today’s Gazprom’s inclination to send the gas at a price of $230 can be treated by us as a major one, but not to the full extent.
We cannot buy gas at a price of $230 and supply it to our country. We have a spirit of mutual partnership and understanding of strategic cooperation in relations wit our Russian colleagues, which envisages business-oriented and stable nature of our relations, Yuri Boyko stressed.
