Gazprom threatens Ukraine’s security?
The Gazprom Company activity may threaten Ukraine’s security; Ukrainian Security Service Deputy Chief Ivan Gerasimovich stated in his interview to Ukrainian Kontracty weekly. According to him, “Gazprom, which has contracted nearly the whole Turkmen gas since January 2007, turns into the exclusive gas supplier to Ukraine,” this fact “unconditionally threatens country’s economic security.” Additionally, Ivan Gerasimovich stressed insufficiency of diversification rate of gas supply sources, as well as guaranteeing trilateral gas balance between Ukraine, the EU, and Russia among acute energy security’s problems.
As REGNUM informed earlier, the Gazprom Company (Russia) made contracts for the whole amount of transit gas with Turkmenistan for 2007.
