Yulia Timoshenko questions legitimacy of Ukrainian government
The government established in Ukraine on August 4 and approved by a resolution of the Supreme Rada, has lost its legitimacy, leader of the second biggest parliamentary faction Yulia Timoshenko stated at a news conference in Kiev on September 4, a REGNUM correspondent informs. She appealed to the country’s president and Ukrainian people, requesting to cease authorities of the Ukrainian government and parliament.
Mrs. Timoshenko reminded that, in accordance with the constitution and the legislation, law on appointing an MP to a post incompatible with this status expires in 20 days, if mandate of the MP is not ceased in appropriate way. A legally correct conclusion may be drawn in this connection: Yanukovich is occupying two posts unconstitutionally. It is a legal fact; Yanukovich has no constitutional authorities to take up the premier’s post, it is said in her address.
On the same basis, Mrs. Timoshenko stressed, Supreme Rada’s resolution on appointment of MPs Azarov, Klyuyev, Dzharta, Tulub,Tarasyuk, Nikolayenko, Rudkovsky, Pavlenko, Zvarych ministers has become invalid. I congratulate people on this notable event – Ukraine’s pre-term liberation from a criminal clan in power, Mrs. Timoshenko stated. Also, she stressed that because there is no legal government in Ukraine, its president has constitutional rights to dissolve the Supreme Rada in connection with the fact that more than 60 days have passed since the former government’s resignation.
Yulia Timoshenko stressed, her political force was ready to dispute on all decisions of Viktor Yanukovich’s government at the Ukrainian Constitutional Court.
