Poll: Yanukovich’s rate has come up with total popularity of Yushchenko-Timoshenko’s duet
According to a poll, conducted by the Ukrainian Public Opinion Foundation, Ukrainian citizens’ trust in President Viktor Yushchenko has sharply decreased. According to the UPOF Director Alexander Bukhalov, overall 59.5% of respondents expressed their distrust in the president. 29.7% of respondents trust in him; 11.3% found difficulty in answering the question. 29.9% of respondents negatively assessed work of the president since the beginning of his office; 14.9% assessed it extremely negative (very bad); 32.6% satisfactory; 12.9% good.
Trust in Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich increased by two times. In such way, the Ukrainian premier reached index of an analogous poll, conducted before the presidential elections. As the poll recorded, 38.2% of respondents voted for confidence in Yanukovich; 23.3% trusted in his main opponent Yulia Timoshenko. 16.4% of respondents approved policy of Parliament’s Speaker Alexander Moroz; 16.9% activity of Interior Minister Yuri Lutsenko.
As Mr. Bukhalov stressed, Viktor Yanukovich has become the only one politician, positive comments on whom prevailed over negative ones. So, respondents feel the highest level of distrust in Yulia Timoshenko – 32.6%. Correspondingly, 19.9% of the respondents have negative attitudes towards Mr. Yanukovich.
According to the poll’s outcomes, if Ukrainian presidential elections were held on August 20, 36.2% of respondents would vote for Viktor Yanukovich, 15.5% for Viktor Yushchenko, 15.3% for Yulia Timoshenko. 5.9% of respondents would vote against all candidates; 6.4% would not participate in the elections.
