Georgia blocks foreign citizens’ entry to South Ossetia
September 14, Georgia blocked the movement of persons with Russian passports through the territory of South Ossetia, REGNUM correspondent quotes Minister of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia Mikhail Mindzayev to say.
Mindzayev says that citizens of Russia, Armenia, and other states, except for the residents of South Ossetia, are not allowed to enter. He remarked that such persons are not let in both from the Russian and Georgian side. As a response measure, we have closed transit through South Ossetia for persons with Georgian passports, except for those who reside in Georgian enclaves (villages populated mostly by Georgians) in the South Ossetian territory.
The minister also says that the situation in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone is stable, no incidents have been filed for the past 24-hour period. The Georgian leadership has not so far received any regular foreign tranches to further their activities against South Ossetia, Mindzayev commented.
