CE and EU performed an agitprop attack on South Ossetia – Head of South Ossetian Interior Ministry
Minister of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia Mikhail Mindzayev called statements of international structures representatives who allege that referendum in South Ossetia has no chances to be recognized an agitprop attack against South Ossetia.
The minister said in an interview to REGNUM correspondent that possible provocations on the territory of South Ossetia could be performed with the support of the international community. Specifically, speaking of the statement made by Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis who said that the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic were only wasting their time and energy, preparing to the November referendum on independence, the South Ossetian minister called it a rushed one. We can see now, what is the nature of the ‘democratic way’ on which the European countries stand, if they regard expressing the free will of people a futile exercise. We can as well say that the international community is a futile notion, especially after the way it behaved in the Lebanese-Israeli conflict, Mindzayev says.
The minister also noted that pressure exactly on peoples who are friends with Russia is exerted by some international organizations. We are part of Russia, we are citizens of Russia, and will not betray our Fatherland, unlike our southern neighbors who cunningly take the side that is promising immediate profits. The course will change, and they in Georgia will create not a museum of Soviet occupation, but a museum of the NATO occupation of Georgia. "The people’s decision is taken, nobody has a right to alter it, Mindzayev added.
To remind, recently in Strasburg Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terri Davis said, particularly, that Europe would not recognize results of referendum on independence of South Ossetia, and the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic just waste their time and energy preparing to the November ‘referendum on independence.’ Echoing him, special EU envoy to South Caucasus Peter Semneby said that the results of the referendum on sovereignty of South Ossetia will have no meaning to the EU.
