Over 97% vote for Transdnestr independence
On September 18, outcome of the referendum in Transdnestr has been announced. Head of the Transdnestr Central Election Commission Pyotr Denisenko announced the data at a news conference at the International Press Center, a REGNUM correspondent reports.
According to Denisenko, 97.1% of Transdnestr citizens voted for supporting the policy for the Transdnestr Moldavian Republic independence and further joining the Russian Federation; 2.3% voted against it.
94.6% voted against possible rejection of the Transdnestr Moldavian Republic independence with further joining the Republic of Moldova; 3.4% voted for it.
2% of Transdnestr citizens failed to answer.
The turnout at the referendum was 78.6%.
