Charges against Russian military detained in Georgia will be brought Sep 29
Charges against Russian army officers detained in Georgia will be brought tomorrow, Sep 29, REGNUM correspondent reports referring to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the ministry’s official information, six Russian army officers have been detained on suspicion of espionage to the advantage of Russia. Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs also confirms that surrounding of the building of the Russian military headquarters office in Tbilisi remains in place.
Yesterday Georgian Interior Ministry forces surrounded the Russian military headquarters in Tbilisi and arrested more than 10 citizens of Georgia. Today, Sep 28, two more Russian officers were detained: Amir Aslanyan and Ruslan Skrylnikov. Now detained at an investigatory isolation ward of Georgian counterespionage department are: lieutenant colonels of GRU Alexander Sava and Dmitry Kazantsev, captain II rank Alexander Zagorodniy, and major Alexander Barantsev (the latter two detained in Batumi). Yesterday night, they were visited by Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Georgia Ivan Volynkin. He says all the detainees are being kept in normal conditions.
