Georgia has to observe agreements and halt provocations — UN Security Council

Read it in Russian

The UN Security Council expresses a deep concern in connection with the action of the Georgian side in the Kodori Gorge, that violate resolutions of the UN Security Council, particularly, on refraining from any actions that could undermine the peace process, it is said in the UN SC draft resolution distributed among the Council’s members.

The UN SC assesses recent Georgia’s moves as provocation and demands to refrain from any action that could further destabilize the situation in the region. The resolution draft also envisions withdrawal of Georgian troops from Kodori Gorge and following the peaceful settlement plan signed in Moscow May 14, 1994. According to information published at the UN website, Russia on Sep 28 requested summoning an emergency closed consultations on the issue of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict. The session is to start shortly.
