US amendments to UN SC resolution on Georgia change its essence
Amendments proposed by the USA to the official draft resolution of the UN Security Council Chairman on the situation in Georgia are unacceptable to Russia and make adoption of the resolution so amended impossible, ITAR-TASS reports quoting Russian diplomats. The suggested amendments “change the very essence” of the draft resolution and “make its adoption impossible,” diplomats said.
As it was reported earlier, the US delegation refused to sign a draft resolution of UN SC on Georgia, referring to the absence of Washington’s instruction. However, later US diplomats showed they intended to make amendments to the resolution draft.
