Romanian senator: Unification of Romania and Moldova is a question of patriotism but not money
Sooner or later, Romania and Moldova as countries with a single language and single tradition will unite. The statement is made by Varujan Vosganian, Chair of Romania’s Senate Commission, member of the National Liberal Party in the Ziua newspaper (Romania) on October 5. It would have been strange if our rapprochement with the European market cost us separation from Moldova, however, we should not see the situation as out final choice. We should revise the strategy of unification in the new context of European integration. Vietnam has unified. Germany has unified. The two Koreas will unify soon. It should not happen that only the Romanian people remain the only people separated by an artificial border and its own impotence. According to him, the question how much the big Romania will cost us is incorrect. Irrespectively of how much the big Romania will cost us, the country with a large market, it will be a stronger Romania. It is no sense asking how much unification with Bessarabia will cost us. In the long run, unification is the question of patriotism, but not money, the senator believes.
As REGNUM informed earlier, on July 1, at an official palace Kotrochen, Romanian president proposed to Moldavia reunification of the two countries in the framework of the EU. Romania has proposed to Republic of Moldova, the head of Moldavian state, an option to join the EU together with us. However, the decision is to be taken by the Chisinau authorities and the people of the Republic of Moldova, President Traian Basescu said. Romania still remains divided in two countries; however, the Romanian-Moldavian unification will take place within the European Union and in no other way. Also, the head of Romanian state stressed that Romania is the only country, the only people, which remained divided after reunification of Germany.
