Lavrov: Security Council must demand that Georgia stop violating UN resolutions

Read it in Russian

During his visit to Poland, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged the Georgian authorities to give up their anti-Russian policy. They in Moscow believe that if Georgia changes its position, the problem of bilateral relations will be solved.

Lavrov said that Russia is waiting for the UN resolution on Abkhazia. “This month, the UN should adopt a new resolution because the mandate of its mission in Georgia is expiring. The Russian side will present its draft of the resolution. We insist that the new resolution mention the gross violations of the previous Security Council decisions by the Georgian side. The violations are already mentioned in the UN Secretary General’s report on the issue. The SC must, certainly, demand that they be stopped,” NTV reports Lavrov as saying.
