Russia expects from UN SC objective evaluation of Georgian authorities’ activities

Georgia’s activities create a dangerous situation in the zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict and should be immediately stopped, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said after the UN Security Council session. A Secretary General’s report on the situation in Abkhazia was discussed at the session behind closed doors.

Vitaly Churkin said also that violations on the part of Georgia were mentioned in the report. He says Russia expects from the UN SC an appropriate evaluation of the actions of the Georgian authorities. The whole draft resolution submitted by Russia to the UN SC is explicating the Russia’s position. The resolution draft envisions extension of the mandate of the UN monitoring mission to Georgia, which expires Oct 15.
