Russia and Kazakhstan join to enrich uranium in Angarsk
Russia and Kazakhstan have established a first joint enterprise for uranium enrichment in Angarsk (Irkutsk Region), Rosatom press office informs. According to the ministerial information, representatives of Russia and Kazakhstan signed on October 12 constitutive documents of three Russian-Kazakhstani joint enterprises in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy.
Besides the Center for the Uranium Enrichment, the Atomnye Stantsii (Atomic stations) joint enterprise has been founded to develop and promote in the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan, and third countries projects of energy plants with atomic reactors of small and medium capacity. The Akbastau Company is created to develop the Yuzhnoye Zarechnoye uranium field and sectors of the Budionnovskoye uranium field. Russian and Kazakhstani founder companies have equal rights and nominal capitals in the joint enterprises.
The enterprises’ establishment is the first practical step towards integration of Russian and Kazakhstani nuclear industry complexes, envisioned by the Russian-Kazakhstani statement on cooperation in the sphere of atomic energy peaceful use of 25 January 2006, Rosatom informs.
