US ready to support Russian resolution on Georgia
The US is ready to support the UNSC draft resolution on Georgia proposed by Russia, Echo Moskvy Radio quoted Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin as informing the press.
All the i's have been dotted in a diplomatic form in the resolution that contains calls on Georgia to abstain from provocative rhetoric and actions, Churkin accounted. A demand of joint patrolling of the Kodori Gorge by the UN Mission forces and Russian peacekeepers is the document’s important item that Georgia earlier called unacceptable. The requirement to extend the mandate of Russian peacekeepers in Abkhazia until 15 April 2007 remained unchanged in the draft.
The vote on the draft resolution is scheduled for October 13.
