Ecologists of Primorye Territory (Russia) surprised at listing Rudnaya Pristan among the most polluted places in the world
It was an absolutely surprise for me that Rudnaya Pristan village in Dalnegorsk area of the Primorye Territory was listed among the most polluted places in the world; ecological BROK NGO leader Anatoly Lebedev stated to a REGNUM correspondent on October 20.
We considered problems of territorial ecological state at sitting of the territorial council 15 years ago. Valley of Rudnaya River was just one of areas of ecological disaster. However, all enterprises, located there, including Dalpolimetall, were functioning to their full capacity. There were problems with sewage disposal plants at the same time. However, it is strange for me, now, that Rudnaya Pristan was called one of the most polluted places. All such things make us to clear up the situation in detail in the abovementioned area, the ecologist added.
REGNUM informed earlier that the US Blacksmith Institute Foundation called ten most poluted places in the world, among which Rudnaya Pristan village in Dalnegorsk district of Primorye Territory was named.
Also, REGNUM informed earlier that an ecological disaster happened in May 2006 near Rudnaya Pristan village at Primorye Territory coast. A barge-pontoon belonging to Dalpolimetall sank during unloading ore concentrate. Several tons of complex ore remained onboard the barge, when it went to the bottom. According to Echo-DV Ecological Agency, about 50 tons of complex ore were onboard. It is reported that the sunken barge has practically went out of use; in addition, it was heavily overloaded.
