Condoleezza Rice expresses condolences to son of slain reporter
Later on October 21, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had a meeting with leadership of Novaya Gazeta newspaper, for which slain reporter, Anna Politkovskaya worked. The meeting with the newspaper’s editor-in-chief Dmitry Muratov occurred at a Moscow Marriott hotel. Among others, Ilya Politkovsky, son of the slain reporter, was present at the meeting. According to Rice, in the person of Politkovskaya the world lost an important person. She expressed her condolences to Ilya Politkovsky, Ekho Moskvy Radio reports.
As REGNUM reported before, the US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice arrived in Moscow on October 21. Her visit is aimed at discussing the North Korean nuclear crisis with the Russian leadership. Moscow was the last city in her current tour. This week she has already visited Japan, South Korea and China. As results of talks in Tokyo and Seoul, heads of the US, South Korean and Japanese foreign offices confirmed their unanimous aspiration towards cooperation in settlement of the Korean nuclear problem.
