Berezovsky on air in Ukraine: Russia has to choose between ‘bad’ Yanukovich and ‘very bad’ Yushchenko
Boris Berezovsky believes that the most principal task for Russia is to prevent from Ukraine’s joining NATO, now. On October 24, he expressed such opinion speaking on air at the Ukrainian Inter TV-Channel. There may not be two opinions here – it is moment of fundamental importance for Putin’s Russia, Berezovsky stressed.
According to him, however, at this stage Moscow does not have economic restrictions to guarantee Ukraine’s non-joining NATO; that is why, political instrument was used in the aspect – Yanukovich’s lobbying initially for presidential post and, then, for prime minister’s one. At the same time, Berezovsky stressed that Russia’s choice is restricted, now; it has to choose not between good and bad things, as it were before the ‘orange’ revolution but between ‘bad’ Yanukovich and ‘very bad’ Yushchenko. However, Ukrainian prime minister may not act, now, as if there were no ‘orange’ revolution, the disgraced oligarch believes.
Speaking about gas price at the level of $130 for Ukraine, Berezovsky stressed: Certainly, there are agreements between Russia and Ukraine, about which we do not know anything. Also, there is no doubt that Yanukovich is more oriented towards Russia than Europe; I believe that price of $130 is payment for continuing dialogue and standing up for positions of ban on Ukraine’s joining NATO.
